Built on a 1.1-acre property with direct beach access and nestled within coastal forest, Avalon is a peaceful escape designed for slow mornings, quiet evenings, and time spent with nature. Just a short ferry ride from the city, this custom guest house was created as a comfortable retreat for friends and family visiting the Sunshine Coast.
INSIGHT
The homeowners wanted a space that felt relaxed and private, while still connected to the main home on the lot. Avalon strikes that balance, offering a cozy and inviting atmosphere with modern comforts. Positioned to take full advantage of filtered forest light and peekaboo ocean views, this cabin-style home delivers comfort and calm in equal measure.
DESIGN & CONSTRUCTION CONSIDERATIONS
Sloped Site, Smart Planning
The natural grade and tree coverage called for strategic access, drainage, and minimal disruption to the landscape.
Built for Coastal Weather
The fluid, open layout of The Fjord creates space for joyful events, peaceful moments and memorable experiences.
Small Footprint, Big Function
With just 1,000 sq. ft., every square inch had to work—resulting in a compact, well-appointed layout.
Steps to the Shore
We built a stable stair system that follows the natural slope, creating safe, lasting beach access.
