Our Favourite Unique Custom Home Features

If you’re looking for inspiration for your next custom home feature, look no further: the team here at Lincoln Construction are outlining our favourite unique custom home features!

Without further ado, let’s jump in:

#1: Mud Rooms

A must-have for any family, mud rooms are the perfect unique custom home feature to keep your living room clean and uncluttered.

This space can be designed not only for cubbies, but also cabinets and/or drawers for an extra level of organization. Whether it be space for backpacks, jackets, shoes, umbrellas, or anything in between, mud rooms are a fantastic segue from your entranceway to your primary living space.

#2: Hidden Safe Rooms

Here at Lincoln Construction, we continuously strive to enhance our construction practices and project management systems. One of the best ways to do that is to take on rare, unique custom home features… like hidden safe rooms!

Ideal for both safety and privacy, hidden safe rooms are a trendy custom feature that can be used to secure valuables or people during emergencies. Some families even use them as a “bunker” to store food and water.

The most fun aspect of a hidden safe room? What it’s hidden behind! We personally love faux bookshelves that swing inward to reveal your secret room.

#3: Walk-In Showers

Is any master bathroom truly complete without a walk-in shower?

While walk-in showers may not sound like a “unique” custom home feature, the sky's the limit when it comes to the level of modernization you can implement: from the size, to the layout, to the installations, walk-in showers are a home feature that can be fully customized with ease.

Not sure how you’d like yours? We recommend browsing Houzz for inspiration!

#4: Outdoor Living Spaces

Especially when located here on the beautiful Sunshine Coast, an outdoor living space is a must if you’re contemplating a unique custom home feature.

An outdoor living space is the prime place to either work or play: a covered patio with a grill and outdoor refrigerator, a fireplace and comfy couch, a TV with an outdoor bar or kitchen attached… whatever your dream is for your backyard, Lincoln Construction can see it become a reality!

(And if you have a seaside view, we’ll have to insist that you build at least one unique custom home feature around it. We have some of the most spectacular views in the province–why waste it?)

#5: A Deep-Pour Basement

Tired of basements getting the bad reputation of being musty, low-ceilinged, and overall dreary?

Well, a deep-pour basement can fix that.

Adding even just one foot of ceiling height via a deep-pour foundation will work to make your basement feel more open and inviting–if you arrange this unique custom feature before building starts, you can even ask for extra windows!

If a homey basement is what you want, we can’t think of a better way to achieve it.
